Felt awesome today and ran 10.25 miles in 84 minutes with only a quick 2 minute drink break. Ran a couple miles with Lily and we got each other excited about running a marathon. Hope I can keep that enthusiasum going!

I did 45 minutes on the Elliptical this morning at the gym. I was hoping to give my feet a break so that I can do a 13+ tomorrow. I don't want my plantar fascitis to rear back up again before the marathon.
I put on a pair of pants that I wore before I got pg. I think I dare say they are even more loose now than before. The saying is true: "Nothing tastes so good as it feels to be thin." |

I could hardly stand to step on my feet when I first rolled out of bed this morning. The heels of my feet hurt so bad. I am nervous about it.
My father's day gift to my hubby was telling him to go hiking today and not complain about it so I had to be home early to take care of the kiddies. I didn't get as much time as I wanted but 9 still wasn't too bad. It sounds like I might be going later today with Kira and Lily anyways.

What a long drawn out morning!! Lily and I ran to the gym which is about 2.5 but they opened up an hour late so we ran around the city blocks for awhile, then we ran inside for awhile, then we went to a tanning bed right by the gym and then ran home. It was an awesome work out but it took foreeeeeeeeeever! So fun tho.

| I went running on the river trail this morning. I had stayed out late with some gal pals the night before and didn't get to sleep until almost 2 am. I had a hard time getting up and got up a little later than I wanted. It was kinda too warm and windy but I pushed through. My first mile about killed me and it was about a 9:30 minute mile, but I ended up running fast enough the next 3.5 to bring my average speed up to 8:20 minute miles. I am crossing my fingers that I feel back to normal this week and run a lot more than I have these last two weeks. |

| I had such a good time this morning. I ran the river trail then detoured through a nice neighborhood by mine to pick out which house I want to move into. Sadly, no one was standing outside ready to give me their house so I ran back across the bridge and I saw a familiar person about a half mile ahead of me. Lily! I ran hard trying to catch her for about a mile, but then realized that even if I caught her at that point I was so out of breath that I wouldn't be able to hold a conversation anyways, so I dropped back down and let 'er go. I was able to maintain a 7:47 minutes per mile pace for the whole 7.5 miles. I am so excited about it. I never thought this short stocky body would be able to do that!! My next goal is to try to do 13 miles at that pace. Maybe on Saturday, I will give it a try. |

| I went to the gym at 5:00, did the arktrainer/stairstepper thingamajig for 45 minutes while I visited with Kira, then I went to get on the treadmill and couldn't stand the thought of it, so I drove home and ran 4.50 miles around the nieghborhood/park area. I averaged 7.7 miles an hour again which is a 7:47 average. I am happy with it. |

Went to Good Ole Gold's this morning and did the elliptical for 45 minutes than ran on the treadmill for 2.5 while Lily walked and talked to me. She didn't want to run today in anticipation of her race tomorrow, but I she was sweet and kind enough to walk by me and chat to help the time pass quickly for me. What a friend! |

My inlaws were here to stay so Adam and I left the kids with them sleeping this morning and did a run together. It was so much fun to be together doing it. I am excited to do it more often some day. It was a miserable run other than that. My right butt cheek hurts so bad every time I run these days. I have a pulled muscle or something right where my legs connects to my bumtock. We run by the city center to watch the local yokel runners come through the finish line at the Speedy Spaniard. That was awesome. Good job Lily and Merri especially. I am proud that I can say I know them. |

| Ran 6 miles on the River Trail today. The first 3 I did in 21:00 flat. The first half mile took me 5 minutes, so I know I had to have run a sub 7 minute mile sometime in there to make up for it. The next 3 were a bit slower but my time for the total 6 miles came in at 44:20, average pace: 7:20. I am going to keep working hard and maybe someday I can do a whole half that fast. I can do hard things! |

This had to be in the top 3 hardest runs I ever did. I started out feeling yuck and kept thinking it would get better. At mile 5, I broke down and took a power gel and thought that would help. It never did. I had made up my mind to do 10 so I finished, but I literally cried when I walked in the front door and my husband asked me if I was ok. I think maybe I was severly dehydrated or something. That is what it felt like, but I had drank lots the night before and a bottle before running this morning, so I am not sure. My average pace was 8:35/mile which is so frustrating.....maybe tomorrow will be better. |

Getting some excersise in is always better than none right? I had to go late because my hubster ran the Hobble Creek Half this morning and I got to go watch him. Well, he was so fast all I saw was a blurr. J/K. But he did do it in 1:34 which was a minute faster than last year and he was 22nd in his age group so I was impressed. He is an awesome runner. Someday maybe he will join frb. |

| About mile 9 I decided I would do 5 more, so I was not prepared for a long run today and had no gu or gel or water. That might have made this more enjoyable. I also went out through farm courntry and had two dogs chase me and there was nothing to look at for miles out there and the sun just shining down baking on me. All in all, I would give this run 2 stars. I averaged 8:20/mile which isn't fast enough to stay on track for the time I want at TOU. Now I have to do another long run this week to get my confidence back up. I can do this! |

| I got up and decided to just have fun this morning I took our dog, which I don't usually do because he is lazy and you have to drag him towards the end. I hoped he could hang on for 4 miles. He made a nice companion. I even left the garmin at home so I could just do whatever I felt like doing pace wise. I felt like during the running, I was keeping a good pace, but I stopped to let the dog drink and swim in the river, so overall it was slow. I super enjoyed it tho. |

| It was a little freaky this morning. I passed a yucky looking guy smokin a cigarette sitting on his bicycle on the river trail in the dark and trees. As I passed, he said, "Hey Sweetie, you seen a rotty running around here?" Well GREAT. Now I have wierdo on a bike following me and there is a loose rotwieller running around. I didn't even bring my pepper spray today. So I hopped on the next trail that takes you to the tennis courts because there was bright lights and lots of people playing tennis. I just ended up running loops around that area, keeping people in my vision the whole time. I had hoped for a longer run, but that kind of through me off today. Average pace: 8:10/mile. |

Today is my son's sixth month birthday and I celebrated by running 20 miles. I had that goal all through my pregnancy
I did the first six on the treadmill this morning at a 8:30 pace (I am so slow on the treadmill.) Then Lily and I ran the river trail once for another 4 miles and those 4 miles averaged 7:15. Tonight I went out and did 10 more that I averaged 7:47.
I am so happy to be healthy and strong. |

I ran into Lily and ran with her for about 2 miles before I told her to go on ahead cause I was feeling to sore and tired to keep up with her. Not long after we parted ways, I ran into a neighborhood jogger who I have always considered to be pretty slow. Well, she has put some speed on because she was almost keeping up with me and I couldn't have that, so I pushed it and lost her. It raised my average pace up to 7:10/min. I may be slightly competitive. |

Ran on the tm again today. I sure can't take the cold mornings but I miss running outside. I hope to start going in the late afternoon soon. |

The Top Of Utah Marathon time has arrived yet again. This year Adam (my handsome hubby) had a stress fracture and couldn't participate and I was not pregnant and could so he was the spectator and I was the participant. It was a wierd change of events, but hopefully, both of us are out there kicking trash next year.
Lily could not find a room to rent in Logan. She bunked up with me, Adam, our 20 kids (it felt like) and my super supportive MIL. We had a great trip up with lots of visiting and excitement. We had a delish dinner and was in bed fairly early.
I slept pretty good from 10:30-3:30 when I woke up ready to RUN!
Lily and I went and ate breakfast at the motel where we met and talked to a guy who travels the country doing a different marathon every weekend. Kinda cool, but at the same time, kinda sad and lonely. He was not married and had no kids. Who is there to cheer him on or care? It made me ultra glad I have my friends and family.
On the bus ride up, Lily and I kept thinking this is a long bus ride and we have to run all this way back. That's a wake up call right there now!
We got there and hit the port-a-pots quick like. We made our way down the hill to the tents where we went inside to a super crowded, dark and hot space. I briefly wondered if a concentration camp was anything like this. I could almost feel the disease and germs spreading like wildfire. I grabbed onto Lily's arm so we wouldn't get seperated and tried to find Allie. Lily called out," Allie, where are you?" The girl in front of us turned around and it was Allie. Great, that was easy enough.
We warmed up too much, decided to hit the toilets again before the race started. The line was huge long now, so Lily and I went over the hill. I did my biz, but Lily had stagefright about some young men, so I had to hold my emergency blanket out for her.
We went back down, had our pre race shot blocks and gatorade, and lined up. Lily got to the front of the pack and I stayed back a little so I wouldn't get mowed down by the ultra super fast people.
In line, I was thinking what in the hell have I got myself into? but before I knew it the cannons fired and it was too late to do anything but run.
I quickly latched on to a girl who looked my age wearing a 2010 BOSTON MARATHON QUALIFIER shirt. She seemed to be keeping the pace I wanted to qualify for Boston which was about 7:40 minute miles. I followed her to mile 3 where I had to do a quick pee. I came out and caught up to her again by mile 4. I followed her to mile 10, where I lost her briefly. I will come back to that.
Meanwhile, I was just starting to warm up and feel my lips and nose and fingers. I was feeling so good and the view was spectacular. I continued on this way to mile 10.
At mile 10, I felt a snap of pain across the top of my left foot. Shooting screaming pains continued through to mile 11. I could not believe my luck. At mile 10? I was barely into this race and already something like this happened? I briefly wondered whether I would be one of those poor saps who have to ride back down the canyon on a shuttle. I sucked it up along with some ibuprofen and continued on. The pain became a little less intense by mile 13, where I could see my time was still on par for a Boston qualifying time of 3:40 but I needed to keep it going with no mistakes to do it.
After this, my pace slowed to around 8:30 minute miles. The pain in my foot was so intense, that I could only run about a half mile and then had to walk a few feet, run another half mile, walk again. etc.
I gave myself a good pep talk and picked up the pace again around mile 16. I caught back up to 2010 BOSTON QUALIFIER LADY and stayed there until about mile 20.
I had been so good to stay fueled and hydrated so I never hit that "wall" of tiredness. I didn't feel tired, out of breath, or sick. Just hurt. I continued on the rest of the race this way. Run until the pain was bringing tears to my eyes, then walk a bit, run again. My time slowed to the point that I knew I was not going to make Boston, but I could still do a sub 4 hour if I kept going.
Around mile 21, a cute girl name Tiffany asked if she could run with me. I replied, "Oh would you please?"
She had hit a mental wall and just needed someone to talk her through, I just needed someone to take my mind off my throbbbing foot. We hobbled on through the next five miles.
We turned the corner to the finish and poor Tiffany broke down into tears. I broke into a smile to see my family there and that I had made it under 4 hours with a time of 3:55. I wanted that 3:40 but considering that I had to run 16 miles with a super hurt foot, I thought it wasn't bad.
We did the obligatory after race pictures and visiting and got in the suburban to head home. I took my shoe off. My foot was swollen and black and blue. I couldn't get my shoe back on again.
Sunday, I could barely put weight on it to walk around the house.
Monday, I am not even sore anywhere else, not my quads, calves, bottoms of my feets, nothing. Just this foot. It may be broken. I now feel a huge need to run another marathon soon without the broken foot to see what my time could have been. I must have been pretty prepared for it considering that the rest of my body is not sore. NEXT time, Boston will be mine. |

| I did the elliptical with Kira for one hour and then tried to run 2.5. The first two were painful to my left foot and knee. The last half mile, I kicked my shoes off and ran it barefoot. I am going to try to slowly work a little barefoot running into my routine. |

I ellipticized ( as Lily likes to call it) for 25 minutes then headed to spin class. I have been putting it off for weeks because I know how sore I am going to be after, but it was time. It will be worth it when I have buns of steel! lol.
I get to pick up my Brooks Launch shoes today. I had them zereoed. I am excited to try them out. |

| I haven't been logging the miles in lately. They have been on the tm and slow so I haven't been very motivated. Today I did a Spin class and it was awesome. I love that and am so glad to be back doing it. I already feel skinnier and more toned. |

Last night at Macey's a guy accidentally bumped into my cart and rolled it over my toe! OUCH. It immediately turned purple under the nail and started to throb. It swelled up and kind of reminded me of a lightbulb shape. It would wake me up during the night whenever the covers touched it wrong. Anyways, my point being is that I am back to hardly running for a few days AGAIN. What luck.
I elliptizised for 75 minutes and then walked 1.5 miles just so I could talk to Monica for a bit. |

My husband slyly turned the alarm off last night so that I would sleep in. I know he does this out of concern because I haven't been feeling well, but it made me feel like I am running behind the whole day now. I got the gym about 9 and ran 7 on the tm. Downside-I am now not feeling very productive with my day. Upside-There was some entertaining things on the tv and I got to see people I haven't seen in a while.
I ran 4 more tonight on the river trail with the baby, my hubby, and our eight year old on his bike. Admist all this we maintained a 9 minute mile average which I think is good with kids along. |

| I ran 10.5 on the river trail this mid morning. I finally feel like I am kicking that cold crud to the curb and getting better so I thought I would try being outside and quit babying myself with my 10 minute miles. I borrowed Lily's Garmin and I hope I didn't put it into shock. I know it's never seen anything but 7 minute miles or less and I showed it it's first 8ish minute miles today (with one 12, had a sideache.) Anyhoo, I am definately not in my best shape ever after taking time off for hurt feet and the sickies. A little disappointing but expected. At least I know I can get faster. |
